Candidate in municipal elections Michaela Palmberg – Building a future-proof Tampere

You can vote for me in Tampere with the number 327

What is a future-proof municipality?

According to the National Coalition Party Kokoomus, the formula is quite simple: when people have the resources for a good life in a municipality, its heart continues to beat, the economy is in good shape, and work and jobs are created. This in turn accumulates something to share, and services can be maintained; safety, comfort, the environment and hobby opportunities can be ensured. In Tampere the party works for a community, where everyone gets the support they need. This way we can build a municipality that fosters common growth. Work must always be rewarded

Work is the foundation of welfare. The incentives of work and entrepreneurship should not be supressed through taxation. All decisions must support industrial and business growth as well as the prerequisites for work.

Financial responsibility

We cannot burden our children with enormous debt and postpone challenges into the future with short-term solutions that don't get to the heart of the problem, e.g. by raising taxes. Digitalization offers many opportunities to improve the quality and cost-efficiency of functions and services.

Equal opportunities

Regardless of background every child deserves access to high-quality education and, by extension, the future they choose. Education should prepare for future worklife and meet the needs of businesses.

Sustainable development is the key
to a future-proof society

Tampere needs sustainable solutions that are cost-efficient, enhances the city's competitiveness and creates new opportunities in the long-term.

Vibrant city of culture

A strong feeling of togetherness equals home. My Tampere offers activities for everyone. Consuming and producing culture and sports services should be effortless. Tampere has an excellent opportunity to grow into a capital for events where corporations want to invest and people of all ages want to live.

“The incentives of work and entrepreneurship should not be supressed through taxation.”

Michaela Palmberg

Entrepreneur.

Michaela is a 36 year old entrepreneur in the field of translation. For over ten years she has worked with customers from small business to listed companies in Finland and Europe. She is specialized in financial and insurance texts and works with Swedish, Finnish, English, French, German and Spanish. As a balance she also subtitles television series and movies for cinema.

Master of Arts.

Michaela graduated as Master of Arts from Åbo Akademi University in 2010. She majored in French and her minor was business administration. This combination is a bit unconventional but has benefited her enormously in her career. She finished her master’s studies in French and also studied in Paris for a semester.

Active citizen.

Michaela has always been passionate about life-long learning and creating positive change in her environment. Within politics she has been a municipal councilor in Valkeakoski as well as vice president of the education and welfare committee. She has also gathered experience and knowledge in different organizations such as the Entrepreneur’s Association and Junior Chamber International (JCI). Michaela is known for her calmness and respectful diplomatic finesse.

International linguist.

At a young age, Michaela became interested in different languages and cultures. By the age of 13 she was already learning five languages. Today she speaks four languages fluently and three more “at an ok level” as she says with typical Finnish modesty. Michaelas mother tongue is Swedish but nowadays her Finnish has developed to a level that she can officially be called bilingual. She is fluent in French and English and also speaks German, Spanish and Dutch.

Global networker.

Michaela is a brave networker and active in different organizations. For example she has been on the regional Committee for Young Entrepreneurs 2012-2015 and on the national board of directors of JCI Finland 2017-2021. Last year she got a crash course in crisis leadership as National President of JCI Finland. This year she serves as Vice President of the global board of directors of Junior Chamber International as one of six representatives from Europe. By taking responsibility in different organizations Michaela has built an extensive network in Finland and globally which has enriched her worldview.

Child of the sea.

Michaela’s roots are found in the small town of Kristinestad on the western coast. In the picturesque town she grew up by the sea in a red woden house. Her liberal worldview is spiced by an appropriate dash of ostrobothnian drive and persitancy. Today she lives in the center of Tampere with her spouse Jani.

Tampere need a diplomatic, active decision-maker that respects others and values cooperation and taking responsibility. With these values we will build a Tampere that paves the way for the future.
